报告摘要


Soil microbial communities drive biogeochemical processes which can affect various ecosystem services. They are also sensitive to environmental change and their response may cause the considerable change in biogeochemical processes of an ecosystem. My research focuses on the roles of soil microbial communities in biogeochemical processes of nitrogen (N), of which availability often limits the plant growth, in forests and agricultural lands. In this seminar, I will introduce the studies, ranging from an individual microbial community scale, to an ecosystem and a global scale, including 1) key N cycling microbes in N-rich soil, 2) synergetic interaction between  soil microbes, plant growth, and N cycling, and 3) soil microbial community responses to global change.


主讲人介绍



Dr. Isobe is an Assistant Professor at University of Tokyo. He explores the ecosystem consequences of microbial diversity in forests and agricultural lands. He completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Life Sciences at University of Tokyo and did his research at University of California, Irvine. His work appears in Nat Commun, Philos Trans R Soc B, ISME J, and Soil Biol Biochem.
